Venezuelan superstar Danny Ocean is back with 2nd album. This is his first album in 3 years. Ocean is always on the cutting edge so let’s see what he delivers to us this time.
Off the rip, I really like “ADO”, “Istanbul”, and “Fuera del Mercado”. My favorite track on the album is easily “???”. To me, this track easily encapsulates the best of his unique style. The drums and the synths hit just right here. All of these tracks represent another step forward for Ocean and Latin music in general.
The singles have been getting me excited for this album. “Dorito & Coca-Cola” was a surprisingly solid track. “Apartamento” is great. I also really loved “Pronto” and “Cuantas Veces” with Justin Quiles. Ocean gives us smash after smash on this album.
Of the songs I don’t really like are “Dicen”, “La Ultima Ola”, and “La Naturaleza”. When you’re on the cutting edge, not every song is going to necessarily hit. These songs aren’t bad by any means, they just don’t live up to the quality of the rest of the album. I though “Dicen” was a particularly weak way to open the album, even though it picks up from there.
Final Thoughts
Danny Ocean delivers a really solid sophomore outing here. Ocean is one of the most innovative and unique artists in the game right now and it shows here. There are a ton of great tracks on this project. Ocean takes his unique style and pushes it forward with a ton of quality. There are a few misses here but they don’t drag down the whole album. This is definitely worth the listen, no doubt.
