Folks, it’s New Music Friday and let me tell you, this week is a big one. We have a ton to talk about.
This week we have new music from Eladio Carrion, Carlos Vives, Sebastian Yatra, Camilo, Prince Royce, Camilia Cabello, and many more. We also have a new Bizzarap session with Residente. In terms of new albums, we have a new release from the legendary Marc Anthony (review here when live).

Baloncito Viejo – Carlos Vives, Camilo
I love the vibe of this track. There’s a fun, summer vibe that only the Colombian legend Carlos Vives knows how to achieve. I love this track. Great stuff.
Erase Una Vez Pero Ya No – Sebastian Yatra
I’m a big fan of Yatra’s rock sound. I’m not sure what show this will be in but I like this song a lot. Good stuff.
Te Espero – Prince Royce, Maria Becerra
Romeo Santos has some competition for the best new bachata tracks of the year. This is going to be a hot track all summer long. I’m a huge fan of this and know that I’ll be dancing to this as the seasons heat up. Great song.
Bzrp Session #49 – Residente
Easily the longest Bizzarap session to date, Residente gives one of the most, uh, unique sessions to date. Residente is an inherently unique artist who likes to tell stories with his songs. This track borders on poetry with a ton of different ideas that are worthy of a very deep breakdown. My biggest criticism of this track is that Residente’s voice sounds very weirdly recorded. Like, it sounds like it was recorded with a very cheap microphone. Overall, this is a wildly unique experience that I don’t fully know how to describe.
Bam Bam – Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran
There’s a ton of potential here but unfortunately, Cabello doesn’t take it to the fullest level that it could achieve. There’s a lot left on the table that could make this a certified hit. Missed opportunity for sure.
Roto – Corina Smith, Eladio Carrion
Now this I can get down with. This is a perfect track for a house party when it hits 3 a.m. and everyone is looking for a good song that they can chill to but still dance to. It’s a party song without going over the top. A strong night ender and I love it for that.
100 Tracks – Rels B
Rels B usually gives us something different whenever he releases new stuff. This isn’t really new or fresh enough for us to feel like it was a great release. It’s fine but that’s about it.
Whattsup – Revol, Dalex, Arcangel, Bryant Myers
This brings me back to the era of major artists coming together on some producer’s track. Think “Sensualidad” or “Dime”. This is a great callback to that era. I really like this track and am adding it to my rotation.
La Tarea – Mario Bautista, Piso 21
This is another track with a lot of summer vibes. This track is like a warm summer breeze as you sit out watching the sunset. It’s comforting and fun. Good stuff for what it is.
Loco Por Perrearte – De La Ghetto
Is this track good? Yes. Is it anything new sounding or unexpected? No. This is very much an expected track. It’s like a 87 mph fastball down the middle. Is it good for some people? Yes. For the people in the majors? No, it’s nothing special.
11:11 – Reykon, Beele
Another average track. This is good and all but it isn’t enough to move the needle at all.
Gracias (Remix) – Pedro Capo, Farruko
Ireally am not a huge fan of this song. Farruko gives a very weird verse with a voice I’ve never really heard from him. This is a swing and a miss.
Soy Latino – Adolescent’s Orquesta
Writing these New Music Friday posts takes a decent amount of time late at night. I was hoping this song could serve as a kind of musical cup of coffee. It doesn’t. It doesn’t succeed on many, if any, of the layers it looks for success. Shame.
BYAK – Kevin Roldan
New Music Friday is for discovering and rediscovering artists. With that in mind, the song sucks and i wish someone else would have made this song.
