Well it’s the end of an era. For now, Legendaddy is the 10th and final album from the true legend Daddy Yankee. It’s also his first studio album in 9 years.

Off the bat, I have to say I truly appreciate the fact that this album is his first in 9 years and actually contains new music. This is 19 tracks of previously unreleased tracks. There are also music videos to accompany almost every track, which is huge. Some artists, (cough cough Enrique Iglesias), don’t take that kind of approach to their releases. So for that, thank you Daddy Yankee.

One of the first things I noticed about this album are all of the subtle musical tributes to some of his greatest hits. These cues importantly fit in with the current songs, they aren’t jarring or out of place. If this was your first Daddy Yankee album, you might not even notice them. It’s a great way to bring everything full circle.

There are a ton of tracks on this album that I love. It’s hard to really pin down just a few but the standouts were definitely, “Rumbaton”, “Agua”, “X Ultima Vez”, and “El Rey de lo Imperfecto”. While these were my favorites, there are a ton of great tracks throughout this project. It’s incredible for a 19 track album to hit at as high a clip as this album. What an achievement.

There aren’t really any bad tracks on this album. There were a few that I say are just average. Those average tracks are, “Hot”, “Bombon”, and “Bloke”. It’s hard for me to find any glaring issues in this album. An average track for Daddy Yankee is still better than what most artists can do.

Final Thoughts

If this is really the end for Daddy Yankee, what a way to go out. This is one of the best and most complete albums I have ever reviewed for this site. This album is rich with depth and the hits keep coming. If this is how Daddy Yankee is going out, then he’s leaving the game a champion.
