Spring is here in the US. The weather has finally turned a corner. Barbecues, pool parties, and daydrinking are coming very soon. This is the season for tropical beer and tropical music.
This time of year is perfect for Bachata, Salsa, and some easy listening tunes that’ll warm you up from the cold winter.
This summer will include UEFA EURO 2020 (vamos España) so be sure to check out our list of the best futbol songs of all time.
Dejame Entrar – Carlos Vives
Anything off of this album from Vives works really well for a spring song. Vives is the master of these light airy songs. This song is a great one to enjoy on your porch or balcony as you have a nice beer and the weather heats you up.
Cuando Caliente El Sol – Luis Miguel
From the Sol de Mexico, we have a song about the sun heating up the beaches. This song is pure 80s through and through. From the synth to the pop rhythms, this song has it all. The music video is awesome too. It starts with a pillow fight and then some good ole fashioned 80s hijinks ensue with the 17 year old Luis Miguel. This song is the focus of the first episode of Luis Miguel: La Serie.
Cuando Me Enamoro – Enrique Iglesias, Juan Luis Guerra
Like I said in the intro, tis the season for Bachata. Two of the legends of the game team up here for a song that’ll transport you to the beaches of the Caribbean. This song is all about falling in love and what we would do for love. The warm weather, and the world coming out of COVID, means a lot of people are going to be looking for love (even temporary love). Get the romance flowing here and get ready for the world to come back out of their houses.
Volver a Comenzar – Marc Anthony
I could have literally chosen dozens of Marc Anthony’s songs (honestly, I might just make a post entirely about the best Marc Anthony songs for the summer). I chose Volver a Comenzar because of it’s theme of returning to the beginning. That’s what spring is all about; new beginnings.
Diez Mil Maneras – David Bisbal
We don’t give David Bisbal enough respect. This song was a BOP back in the day. It’s a great pop song and super catchy. Bisbal has been putting out hits ever since his debut in 2002. Bisbal finished second on the Spanish version of Star Academy. He has a deep catalogue of great songs, all perfect for this time of year.
Encantadora – Yandel
Saw this song live (by myself) and it was awesome. Yandel is one of my favorite artists of all time and this is one of his best songs. This song is all about a girl who has you addicted and entrapped in all that she has to offer. The remixes of this song are all great too so make sure to check those out as well.
7 Dias – Romeo Santos
La Formula Vol 2 was one of the greatest and most influential albums of the 2010s. This album blended so many genres and forms with a base of bachata in a way that was incredible inventive. 7 Dias is a perfect example of Santos’s signature confidence as he tells a girl that he only needs 7 days to make a girl fall in love with him, marry him, and live happily forever after. Its a great song with a great edge and swagger.
Entre Mi Vida y La Tuya – Fonseca
Fonseca has been sorely underrepresented on this blog. This Colombian artist has so many great songs but this is probably his best. The title translates to “Between my life and yours” and follows the story of a man who follows his love, no matter where she goes. Their lives are intertwined in a profound way. This song is a
Otra Vez – Zion & Lennox, J Balvin
3 legends of the game with one of the biggest hits of 2016. This song was HUGE in the Latin music world. It was a massive hit that still gets a lot of playtime 5 years later. It’s a perfect spring track with J Balvin providing some great inspiration for an outfit.
Calma (Remix) – Pedro Capo, Farruko
This is the essential “get me on the beach with a Modelo in my hand” song. This is a love song to the Caribbean/Puerto Rico. It’s all about relaxing and hanging out with someone while taking in all of the beauty of the beach and ocean. I’m not a beach guy but this song makes me want to rent a cabana and live my life as a beach bum for the summer.
