Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, NEW MUSIC FRIDAY. We are here once again ladies and gentlemen. This week is chock full of new releases from artists like Aventura, Anuel AA, Bad Bunny, Wisin, Nio Garcia, Natti Natasha, and so many more.

Without further ado, let’s get after it.

Volvi – Aventura, Bad Bunny

This song dropped out of nowhere on Monday night. While this might not be the greatest song from either artist, it definitely pushes bachata forward in a way that only Aventura can. This will be a song that you hear at every Salsa Saturday this summer, not a doubt in my mind. Get ready for a lot of Bad Bunny and Aventura for the next few months.

Noches en Miami – Natti Natasha

This was probably the biggest surprise of the week for me. I went into this expecting a good song because 1) Natti Natasha is a great artist and 2) anything with Miami is usually good. This song goes in the expected synth direction but elevates above even your best expectations. This has to be one of the best new songs of the week. A new mother and still putting out bangers – just a day in the life of Natti Natasha.

Los De Siempre – Anuel AA, Chris Jedi

Anuel’s retirement didn’t last all that long. This feels like a return to basics for Anuel. This isn’t some highly polished reggaeton track. It’s a stripped down trap song that feels like the pre-prison Anuel. It’s a refreshing return to roots for the Puerto Rican artist.

Playita – Wisin, Los Legendarios

Two weeks, two not so great songs from Wisin. This song just didn’t connect for me. I was surprised by how little I liked the song considering how much I liked Los Legendarios 001 just a few months ago. This is a big swing and a miss.

Tu Poses – Nio Garcia

Let me get this out of the way – I like this song. I think it’s a pretty solid outing for Nio. That being said, the first time I heard it, this it reminded me of the synths Wham! used on “Last Christmas”. Honestly, I thought about that every time I heard it. Still a good song.

1+1 (Remix) – Sia, Banx & Ranx, Yandel, Sofia Reyes

Unlike his parter Wisin, Yandel fully delivers on this New Music Friday. This is a pretty solid remix (full disclosure, I never listened to the original). Definitely the kind of crossover remixes that we need more of. I wish Sofia Reyes had a larger role in the song but it was very good nonetheless.

HIT IT – Black Eyed Peas, Saweetie, Lele Pons

This song surprised me a bit. It reminds me of a mid-2000s BEP hit but with a new 2021 Latin twist. It’s a very unique sound that only helps BEP carve out their own space in the genre.

Por Ella – Cali Y El Dandee, Boza

Cali Y El Dandee will always have a special spot in my heart after “No Hay Dos Sin Tres”. This song is a very solid summer jam. It easily earned a spot on my playlist. Boza is definitely destined for some big tracks in the near future.

A Mi Manera (Remix) – Omy De Oro, Ozuna

So this was a very good song to begin with. The question we’re left with here is does Ozuna make this a better song? Ozuna hasn’t had a great run lately. I don’t know that he really takes this song much higher. There is a marginal improvement on the original but is it a class above? I think that’s tough to say. Ozuna is better than he’s been but that isn’t necessarily a huge jump.

Mucho Brillo – Hozwal, Casper Magico

Trap is back this week. This is a very good trap bop from Hozwal and Casper. Definintely worth adding to your playlist.

Dos Problemas (Remix) – Blessd, Javiielo, Neutro Shorty, Big Soto

The new kids on the block are here. While this song is pretty solid, it gives me a lot of hope for the future of the genre. Blessd has a lot of potential to be one of the best artists in the game in sometime. I hope all of these guys keep it up.
