Ozuna and Anuel took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce that Los Dioses, their collab album is coming very soon. The two teased this album for the past few days but their announcement today makes the excitment much more real.
In preparation for the album’s release, we’re going to start flooding the airwaves with the best of both Ozuna and Anuel. If you haven’t already checked it out, head over to our post about the best collabs between Anuel and Ozuna. Today, we’re ranking all of Ozuna’s albums.
1. ENOC (2020)
Ozuna’s latest release is certainly his best. I’m a fan of every track but Una Locura, Esto No Acaba, and Que Tu Esperas stand out amongst the crowd. After Nibiru, my least favorite Ozuna album, this feels like a return to form and almost a revenge tour. This album is 20 tracks with only a few non-hits. Esto No Acaba with Nicky Jam is one of my favorite tracks of Ozuna’s career. This song encapsulates everything that reggaeton is about at this stage. It takes Nicky Jam’s 2003 song Mi Gente Tiene Que Baliar and revitalizes it for a new generation. It’s moves the genre forward while paying tribute to it’s founders. This kind of mentality underpins the entire album which made it one of my favorite albums in 2020, a year with A LOT of great albums.
2. Aura (2018)
More reflective than his other albums, Aura has a little bit of everything. Songs like Ibiza and Aura are there to play to your sentimental side. Tracks like Quiero Mas, Vaina Loca, and Tu Olor are great for any party. La Modelo is a Salsa Saturday classic to boot. This album really demonstrates Ozuna’s flexibility. He’s not just a trap artist or reggaetonero. He can slow it down and play to the heart strings. The sounds of the Caribbean ooze out of this album which make its tracks infectious, danceable, and most importantly, fun.
3. Odisea (2017)
Ozuna’s debut album has a number of classic tracks. Tracks like Egoista, El Farsante, Dile Que Tu Me Quiere, Si No Te Quiere, and Se Preparo helped to define the urban genre from 2015-2017. These songs helped bring Ozuna to the top of the charts and establish his position as one of the greatest artists in the genre. There are a few songs that miss that mark such as Carita de Angel and Noches de Aventura. Those tracks don’t take away from the overall product which, not to be hyperbolic, is one of the most important albums of the 2010s for the urban movement.
4. Nibiru (2019)
This album is by far my least favorite of Ozuna’s discography. There are a number of fine tracks including Baila Baila Baila, Sin Pensar, and Dificil Olivdar. That’s generally where the fun runs out. There are a number of misses on Nibiru and some specific moments were you can see the potential but the track falls short. Patek is a great example. The song features Anuel and Snoop Dogg. Anuel’s verse is good, but Snoop’s verse comes out of nowhere and can only be described as goofy. That’s a major disappointment. Unfortunately, that can describe the album as a whole. There’s enjoyment to be had here but there’s a lot of potential left on the table.
