The other big release of last week, Inter Shibuya – La Mafia the new album from Feid is here. It’s the fifth studio album from the Colombian artist.
Feid originally made his name as a producer for artists like J Balvin, Justin Quiles, and Sebastian Yatra. While he released a few smaller singles, Feid made the jump to artist with the 2016 song “Que Raro” alongside J Balvin. Inter Shibuya – La Mafia is the first album from Feid since last year’s Bahia Ducati. This album leans into the same slick reggaeton style that Feid has established throughout his career.
The singles from the album were “Chimbita”, “Tengo Fe”, “Fumeteo”, “14 de Febrero”, and “Purrito Apa”. These are some of the best tracks on the album with “Tengo Fe”, “14 de Febrero”, and “Chimbita” being my favorites. Of the rest of the tracks, “Corone”, “El Padrino”, and “Si Tu Superias” are my favorites.
There are a few songs that really miss the mark for me. “Hulu”, “XXXX”, and “Como Cuando” just don’t get the job done. They’re just a bit off and derail the album more than they should. While songs like “Tengo Fe”, “Corone”, and “Chimbita” are the best on the album, they don’t really rise to the levels that would make this is a great album. They’re a little too close to generic to put this in a higher class.
Final Thoughts
Inter Shibuya is undoubtedly a very good album. It’s hard to put it amongst the best of the year but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot to enjoy from Feid’s slick reggaeton style. Songs like “Tengo Fe” and “Si Tu Superias” are tracks you can go back to time and time again.
