The other big release of the week, aside from Enrique Iglesias’s latest album Final (Vol 1), was Arcangel’s Los Favoritos 2.5. This is Arcangel’s 6th solo studio album and follow up to last year’s Los Favoritos 2. As one of the OGs of reggaeton, Arcangel knows how to deliver the goods.

Off the bat, there’s a lot to like here. Among my favorite tracks on the album are, “Na de Eso”, “Capos Y Bichotes”, and “Hijuepu”. “Na De Eso” is probably the most mainstream track off the album. This is the kind of reggaeton track that has the most mainstream capability. “Hijuepu” is probably the second best song off the album. It’s a little vulgar for the average listener, since it’s literally titled “motherfucker”. Regardless, very good song.

We also need to give a shoutout to “Flow Violento”, “Insegura”, and “Si Te Veo” as more than solid songs as well.

Where this album loses steam in my book is the last few tracks. They really don’t end the album on a super high note. The amount of collaborations on the album is also something that is worth noting. Every track on the album has at least one, if not two or more, features. This really takes the focus off of Arcangel on his own project.

Final Thoughts

Arcangel delivers a very solid album here. This is one of the most mainstream trap albums that we’ll hear this year. If you’re here just for Arcangel, well this isn’t the album for you. There’s a lot of collabs but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
