The highly anticipated new album from Myke Towers is finally here. This is the 3rd studio album from the Puerto Rican artist.

Off the bat, one thing is evident; Towers is not messing around. This album is 23 tracks deep with 19 being 100% Myke. Of those 23 songs on the album, a supermajority of them are songs you can come back to time and time again.

Also evident throughout the album is that Towers understands the long history of Latin music that proceeds him. Pin Pin is pure salsa-ton, combining the heavy reggaeton dembow that Towers is used to with the classic salsa sounds of his island. His opener, Mirenme Ahora, is a tribute to the orchestra and bolero hits of yore.

While Towers generally sticks to his go to rotation of trap, rap, and reggaeton (blending the lines between all three), there is a wide range of variety throughout the album. The aforementioned tributes to the past of Puerto Rican music are only part of the deep tapestry of the album. The collab with Nengo Flow feels like a throwback to the early days of Latin Trap. Some of the other standout songs on the album include Papa Johns, No Salen, Lo Inverti, and Primer Melon.

Like I said before, with so many songs, not every one hits. Of the songs I didn’t love, Balas Locas with Jon Z stands out as the biggest letdown. I had high hopes for this song but it unfortunately it didn’t get to the level I expected.

Verdict

Myke Towers brings the heat with his third studio album. At 23 songs, he gives us no shortage of tunes to sink our teeth into. Not all 23 are hits but the vast majority, including a new favorite of mine in Pin Pin, will keep you coming back for more. Myke Towers is a triple threat in rap, trap, and reggaeton.

Final score – 8.1/10
