Happy Friday, we survived another week. Our reward? Lots of new music.
This week is filled with releases from artists like Rauw Alejandro, Emilia, Boza, Anitta, Alvaro Soler, and many more. This week also sees us getting the sophomore album from Lunay (our review will be here when live).
For last week’s post, read here.
Without further ado, let’s get after it.
Todo de Ti – Rauw Alejandro
It’s hard to find any artist who has had a better 2021 than Rauw Alejandro. Week after week he puts out heat. This is one of his best songs of the year, which is saying a lot. There’s a great disco/funk beat to this song that’s really inventive for the urban genre. The music video is also great. Shaqnosis skates? Sign me up.
Perreito Salvaje – Emilia, Boza
We all know I love Emilia. This is her first single in a while and it’s with one of the fastest rising stars in all of Latin music. I like this song, it has a solid reggaeton/urban beat. It’s not necessarily the newest sound in all of Latin music but it’s a welcome addition to any summer playlist.
Girl From Rio (Remix) – Anitta, DaBaby
This might anger some Anitta stans but this remix takes Girl from Rio from alright to alright+. DaBaby is heavily underutilized here. If he had added in another verse at the end, then maybe this song becomes “good”. It’s worth a listen to but you won’t come back to it multiple times.
Sauce Boy Freestyle 4 – Eladio Carrion
Here’s a little Pa La Cultura history for you, Eladio Carrion’s last album was one of the first posts ever to grace the pixels of this website. I’m a Carrion fan for sure. This freestyle is pretty solid, but nothing overly crazy or notable. It’s quick, just under two minutes, and worth the listen.
Salio – Amenazzy, Jay Wheeler
I feel like we have a Jay Wheeler song on this blog every week. I’m not complaining, quite the opposite actually. I love that he’s putting out so much music. It’s also good to have Amenazzy putting out good tracks again. This is one of the better songs of the week. Definitely worth the listen and worth coming back to.
Si Te Vas – Alvaro Soler
Where the hell has Alvaro Soler been? This is my favorite song of the week. Soler’s music has always been consistent and always delivered. Soler hasn’t released anything in a while as far as I know. His return to putting out bangers is a very welcome new development.
Casamiento – Juan Ingaramo
I don’t know what it is about this song but I have a sneaky feeling this is going to be a big hit. This is a great example of an artist who generally flies under the radar (at least my radar) who will suddenly be topping charts. This is a sneaky addicting song and a good mid-tempo track to just vibe out to.
Malo – Matisse, Mau Y Ricky
I like Mau y Ricky a lot. I’ve been a fan since their first single. This song just doesn’t hit the mark. It’s just, eh. Not very memorable.
La Parranda – Jon Z
One of the bigger surprises of the week. Jon Z’s music definitely does not always hit for me. I actually don’t know many of his songs that I would go back to time and time again. Well, he finally has one of those songs. I’m a huge fan of this song.
