It’s Friday once again and thank the lord it’s here. This week has certainly been a month. Thankfully we have a trove of new music for all tastes. We have songs ranging from pure reggaeton to musical soundtracks.
This week we have new songs from J Balvin, Ricky Martin, Jay Wheeler, Marc Anthony, Anuel, and many many more.
Let’s get after it.
Orto Fili – J Balvin, Jay Wheeler
I’m happy to see these artists team up here. Balvin is one of my favorites of all time and Wheeler represents the new era of reggaeton. This song is similar to Balvin’s song with Khalid, especially in terms of themes. It’s a good song that really helps to give us an insight into this phase of Balvin’s career.
Que Rico Fuera – Ricky Martin, Paloma Mami
I’m very glad Ricky Martin is back. This is one of the best singles he’s put out in a long time, especially as the lead artist. I really like this song. It’s a good up tempo song with a mambo/rumba beat. Paloma’s verse is pretty good as well. I can see this getting some serious airtime this summer.
Dividimos – Nio Garcia
I guess we’re following in Balvin’s footsteps with the sad music tonight. This is a rough one, mainly for the music video. The song itself has good but certainly a little rough on the emotions.
Button – Maroon 5, Anuel AA, Tainy
So hand up, gotta admit I do not care for Maroon 5. Just not my kind of music. This song is pretty solid though. It’s enough of their usual pop sound with just enough urban flavor to make it pretty enjoyable. This is the kind of the song that will go over well in most company. Add it to your playlists.
Bzrp Music Session Vol 40 – Eladio Carrion, Bizarapp
Carrion’s latest album was the first album review we ever did on this site (read the review here). This freestyle is pretty good. I like it a lot. It’s an addicting beat and Eladio is improving his flow with every song. This is a fun song to jam out to.
Fumeteo – Feid
I’ve always like Feid. I always thought he put out some pretty solid music. Que Raro, his debut with J Balvin, is one of my favorite songs of 2017. This song isn’t as good as Que Raro but it’s pretty good nonetheless. Worth the listen to undoubtedly.
El Malo – Omy de Oro, Juhn
Juhn is another C-list artist who I’ve always enjoyed. I’ve always thought he puts out very solid music. Omy de Oro is an up and comer with a lot of talent as well. The two combine here for a very solid and enjoyable reggaeton track. It won’t blow anyone’s doors off but you’re not going to skip it either.
Home All Summer – Anthony Ramos, Leslie Grace, Marc Anthony
Coming to us from the In The Heights soundtrack, this song is hard to really judge. Marc Anthony appearing on it is what drew me in but he has maybe 30 seconds on the track. The rest of the song is fine I guess. If you’re a college girl back home for the summer, maybe this has some significance or interest for you. Otherwise, it’s nothing special. I plan on watching In the Heights at some point this weekend so expect a review soon.
Bailame en los Beso – Dylan Fuentes, Danny Ocean, Daramola
While I’m fan of these three in general, this isn’t it. Danny Ocean is the standout on the track but that isn’t a high bar to clear unfortunately. This song isn’t bad, but it’s certainly forgettable.
Hamaca – Lerica, Beret, Lalo Ebratt
This was a bit of a surprise. I wasn’t expecting much out of this song but I ended up really enjoying it. It’s a very good summer song that makes you want to enjoy the heat and catch some sun. Very good stuff here.
Napoleona – Deorro, Elvis Crespo, IAmChino
After the 2016 hit Bailar it’s not surprising that Deorro and Elvis Crespo would team up again. While I wouldn’t say this is as good a song as Bailar, it’s still a good song for EDM fans. If you know and like Deorro’s style, you’ll like this song. If you’re someone like me who’s not as big of a fan, it’s a little bit more of a mixed review.
