By this point we all know Marc Anthony is probably my favorite artist of all time. His last release was 2019’s Opus which I loved and own on vinyl. This is his first release since Opus and his 14th album overall. This album is very much rooted in Marc Anthony’s salsa origins.

Let’s talk about the tracks that I like first. I’m a big fan of “Nada de Nada”, “Si Fuera Facil”, “No Se Quita” and “El Que Te Amaba”. These 4 tracks really give a great feeling for what Marc Anthony is about at this stage in his career. He’s still able to give us a ton of very solid salsa tracks that get the people going.

One of the weirdest songs on the album is “Gimme Some More”. I’ve listened to Marc Anthony my whole life and I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything like this. It sounds like it belongs in a musical or something like that. The only other criticism of this album is that there isn’t any major hit on it like we’re accustomed to from Anthony.

My general problems with the album are that it’s only 9 songs. I’m not asking for a 20 track monster but I think it’s reasonable to want and expect at least 10 songs on an album. I would also say that Marc has lost a little off his fastball. He’s in his mid-50s so I’m not surprised he’s not throwing 100 mph anymore but it’s still something that warrants a discussion. This album doesn’t hit among the best of his career but that doesn’t mean it isn’t one of the best salsa albums of the last few years.

Final Thoughts

Marc Anthony gives us one of the best salsa albums over the last few years. I wouldn’t put this in the upper echelon of his discography but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a ton of quality tracks here. There’s plenty to get you up and moving. The best part about this album is that it’s out just in time for the warm weather to get you in the mood to move.
