I wasn’t going to review this Duki album at first but I figured I’d do it as a gift to all of you readers. You’re welcome.

Temporada de Reggaeton is the latest album from Argentinian artist Duki. I wouldn’t count this as a full album since it’s only 7 songs but it would be his third.

Even though this album is theoretically reggaeton themed, it really doesn’t feel like the mainstream stuff that’s out. Now, that’s either a major plus or a major negative. For me, that’s more of a negative. With reggaeton, you expect the usual beats that pin the track together. This doesn’t have any of those beats or usual tropes. I don’t think of that as a positive.

The songs I enjoyed are “BICI”, “Top 5” and “Yin Yan”. These three are all very solid tracks that could probably earn a place on most playlists. They aren’t really anything super special but they standout on this project.

My favorite track was hands down “Ley de Atraccion”. That’s a bona fide hit. “Unfollow”, the Bizarrap produced song, is also a huge track right now.

One of the songs that I really didn’t like was “Midtown”. As it begins, you can tell there’s plenty of potential there. The song then quickly falls on it’s face and is nearly unlistenable. I also didn’t really enjoy the opening track “En Movimento”. These tracks just really missed the mark for me.

Final Thoughts

Duki is obviously a monster in the business right now. Some of the previously released singles like “Unfollow” and “Ley de Atraccion” will easily go on to do very well for the Argentinian artist. Will the rest do the same? I doubt it. I find it hard to recommend spending the 22 minutes on this EP but there’s some value there if you choose to make such a decision.
