We are back once again with our Essential Summer Album series. This week’s album comes from Enrique Iglesias, one of the most successful Latin artists of all time. While this may not be the most well known album by Iglesias, it’s a great album to turn on to get the summer vibes going. I guarantee if you get this disc spinning, there won’t be too many complaints.

Euphoria – Enrique Iglesias

Euphoria was released by Iglesias in 2010. It was the 9th studio album from Iglesias but the first to be 50/50 bilingual. The album covers a wide range of styles and genres. It includes some light tropical bachata sounds, reggae tinged tracks, and club smashes. This is a light hearted album meant for the summer sun and good times.

Euphoria performed well commercially, going platinum. The album served as a comeback album for Enrique after not releasing much after his 2007 album Insomnia.

The Essential Tracks

The defining feature of this album is the wide range that it covers. We have some pop, bachata, EDM,

“Cuando Me Enamoro” is a timeless track. No two ways about it. It’s one of the great love songs and one of the great summer songs of this generation. 11 years after its release and it feels fresh as ever. Hard to top this.

By far the biggest hit off this album, “I Like It” was a smash in 2010. This song brings me right back to Summer 2010 whenever I hear it. I had a broken leg, Spain was winning the World Cup, and this song was my mom’s ringtone. What can I say about this song? This song was everywhere and remains one of Enrique’s most well known songs. Also, as a bonus I included the Jersey Shore version of the music video. So 2010.

Our third and final track actually appears twice on the album. “No Me Digas Que No” appears in one version with Wisin & Yandel and one without. The version with Wisin & Yandel is undoubtedly better. While Enrique is very good here, it’s a great track from the earlier era of Wisin & Yandel.

Vibes for the Heat

Even though its a shorter album, this disc from Enrique is filled with hits. From the mega-hits like “I Like It” to the party anthems like “Dirty Dancer”, this album will get the crowd moving. If those aren’t your speed, then tracks like “Cuando Me Enamoro” and “Ayer” are there to satisfy your softer instincts. Euphoria is a versatile album with a ton to offer.
