It’s Throwback Thursday once again. We took the last week off for the Thanksgiving holiday but no worries, we are back. This week we’re talking about Laureano Brizuela.

Born in Argentina in 1949, Laureano Brizuela has had an interesting career to put it mildly. He began his career in the early 70s where he found some success, releasing a few albums. His career began to fade as the decade ended. He moved to Mexico City in the 80s in an attempt to revive his singing career. While he was successful as a producer, he wanted to return to the stage.

In the 80s, he changed his style to rock. One of his biggest albums was El Angel del Rock, released in 1985. Brizuela experienced some solid success until he was arrested in 1989 for tax evasion. After 6 years of legal proceedings he was acquitted by a Mexican court. His musical career never really rebounded although he made some appearances in telenovelas and releasing some albums.

This week’s song is “Sueños Compartidos”. Released in 1987 the song is pure 80s through and through. From the big hair and style down to the soft rock/pop beats, this is the definition of a one-hit wonder. It’s a very catchy and fun track. The lyrics are about taking back someone despite their past with someone else. It’s an acknowledgement that sometimes shared dreams are more important than ego and jealousy. There’s something honorable in that kind of mentality. It’s the true definition of unconditional love and fighting to be together no matter what.
