Puerto Rican artist Dalex is here with his latest album. Unisex is the 3rd album from Dalex and let me tell ya, it’s his best one yet. Clocking in at 18 songs and over an hour, this album has a bit for everyone.

Among the nearly 20 songs there are plenty of highlights. Among my favorites are “Maquina del Tiempo”, “Poderes”, “Superior”, “Estrella”, and “Feeling”. These five songs probably do the best job of representing the range on the album. There’s R&B, reggaeton, dance hits, and even a few slower tracks. On the reggaeton front, any time you’re able to get features from both Wisin & Yandel and Zion & Lennox on one album, that’s generally a good sign. Each of their features is great.

Not every track hits. There are a few that don’t really get it done for me. “Lambo”, “Intenciones”, and “Llora”. all fail to live up to the rest of the album. They aren’t bad songs by any means but they just aren’t of the same caliber as the other tracks on the album.

One of the surprising strong suits of the album was the EDM/dance tracks that open the project. I wish that Dalex would have focused more on adding a few more tracks like this. The dance sound very much fits the Dalex brand and could push his music into the masses (of college aged students). Hopefully the next album will include more dance tracks.

Final Thoughts

Dalex gives us a very strong album here. With songs you can dance to, reggaeton hits, and even a few ballads. With major collaborations from legendary artists, Dalex is pushing himself to a higher level. This is one of the better albums I’ve listened to in the last few months by far.
