With the world slowing getting back to normal, bars are back in a BIG way. Here in the Midwest, bars have slowly been filling up again. Soon we’ll be back to normal and social distancing will be a thing of the past. While we’re slowing getting back to that norm, let’s rank the top 5 best Latin Bar Anthems. My methodology for determining this list were songs that 1) would generally be appreciated by any crowd 2) have some relation to drinking 3) are just generally good songs.

With that in mind, let’s go:

1. Gasolina – Daddy Yankee

I mean, what else could I go with for the #1 choice? This is one of the most well known hits of the last 20 years and its a song you can expect on any party playlist, regardless of latinos present. This song made reggaeton a part of the mainstream lexicon and 17 years later, gets people just as excited.

2. Bailando – Enrique Iglesias, Gente de Zona, Descemer Bueno

This was a tough position to pick. It almost went to Despacito but Enrique and company wins out here in the end. Let me explain. When I think of a bar anthem, I think of one that gets everyone going. Bailando has attained legendary status at this point. It’s never felt too overplayed and people still seem to like it. It still has the power to get the people going. Despacito on the other hand would elicit groans if it were to come on. Love it but it’s definitely overplayed. Give it a few years and maybe it’ll work it’s way back onto the list. No one is going to complain if you put Bailando.

3. Conga – Gloria Estefan

We get a special two-for here at #3. The original Conga is an absolute smash. Gloria Estefan is one of the best to ever do it and this is easily her best song. This song is guaranteed to make people move, and at a minimum smile. The 2021 remix with Meek Mill and Leslie Grace brings new life back into the classic track. The remix is clearly sponsored by Bacardi but that doesn’t take away from the song at all. If anything, it makes me want to go to a bar with a patio and order a bucket of Bacardi drinks. Put it on your summer playlist to while you’re at it.

4. Clavado en un Bar – Mana

The title of this song literally translates to “nailed to a bar”. Like the next entry on this list, it’s about drinking away the pain of failed relationship. Like a lot of Latin songs, they start off by singing about tequila. Surprising to no one, the song ends with the singer feeling like he’s drowning at the bar and not even remembering the name.

5. La Botella – Mach & Daddy

This song is a bit dated by comparison but it’s still a banger. This absolute classic is all about passing a bottle around to get over a girl. Perfect song for a night out with your recently single buddy. Get this song bumping and keep the bottles flowing.
