Throwback Thursday is here once again. We’re finally catching up on our huge backlog of reviews and roundups, so please go check those out. This week’s Throwback Thursday is all about the Puerto Rican artist Lourdes Robles.
Lourdes Robles was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1972. She began her musical career in the 1980s as part of a duo named Lourdes y Carlos. She eventually split from the group and began competing in musical festivals. Her first solo hit came in 1985 with the song “No Soy Distinta”. She continued to release music throughout the 80s and 90s, including a number of albums and duets. Over the course of her career, she has released 11 albums with the last one coming in 2010.
In addition to her musical career, Robles is also an actress appearing in a number of TV shows. She even appeared in “Generaciones” alongside Chayanne in the 80s and 90s. Today, she appears to be in semi-retirement but still active in performing from time to time.
This week’s song is “Corazon en Blanco”. This was the breakthrough single for Lourdes Robles in the US, peaking at #15 on the Billboard charts. The song itself is about trying to move on after a breakup. The pain of the separation has caused her heart to go blank. Her heart is blank, songs have no meaning, and all she longs for is the voice of her former lover. It’s a song for those Sad Boy Season playlists.
From 1989, “Corazon en Blanco”.
