It’s Friday once again so that means the floodgates of new music are open. The most anticipated song of the week is by and far the new single Yonaguni from Bad Bunny (and it lives up to the hype). This week also gives us new songs from Luis Fonsi, Myke Towers, Manuel Turizo, Becky G, and plenty of others!
We also have a new album from Ricardo Montaner which we will review at some point this weekend.
Without further ado, let’s get it started.
Yonaguni – Bad Bunny
Two songs in two weeks? Now Bad Bunny is just spoiling us. This song is also a contender for song of the summer. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to cry but dance at the same time. Only Bad Bunny has the ability to make a song this fun but this sad. I’m a huge fan of this song.
Besame – Myke Towers, Luis Fonsi
Well it seems like Fonsi may have just found the spiritual successor to Despacito. Honestly, this is probably one of his best songs since then. Besame combines a bachata progression with a reggaeton beat. In a lot of ways, it combines the best of the two. This is definitely the kind of song that will get into your ear and not get out. It’s danceable and fun and a great song for the summer. Speaking of Despacito, even the bar in this video looks like the one from the Despacito video.
Mala Influencia – Noriel, Manuel Turizo
What starts off as a slow track that you expect to be a ballad ends up being a pretty decent trap/reggaeton hybrid. The lyrics remain sentimental but the track itself is addicitng and enjoyable. If you haven’t read our review of Turizo’s latest album, you should do that.
Fulanito – Becky G, El Alfa
Okay so I don’t take back anything I said last week about El Alfa. However, I do like this song. This is a fun danceable song that should get some play at clubs this summer. In line with my take from last week, El Alfa is the worst part of this song by far. He doesn’t take enough away for it be bad by any means however.
Si Nos Dejan – Christian Nodal, Belinda
Christian Nodal is arguably one of the biggest artists in Mexican music right now. It’s fitting he would cover this standard. This duet version featuring Belinda is welcome rendition of the classic track. It’s a very good cover to be sure. It’s not better than Luis Miguel’s version but who can really ever say that they are?
Encendia – Casper Magico, Darell, Flow La Movie
Casper always creates songs that sound pretty similar. His range isn’t super wide. None of that should be taken as an insult. If it works, don’t stop. Trust me, it works. This is a fun reggaeton track that will get people perreando. It’s a good bridge song on a setlist. I like it.
Idiota – Morat, Danna Paola
Ya know, sometimes when writing New Music Friday roundups I skip songs I don’t like. Unfortunately, we’re a bit light coming off the bench this week. I generally like Morat’s music. Not every song can be a hit so we won’t hold it against them.
Medio Crazy – Nobeat, KHEA
I don’t know anything about Nobeat but I like what I’m hearing. This song has some cool synth-pop elements that are used pretty well here. Khea is one of the best emerging artists of the year so obviously he kills it here.
Panama – Trueno, Duki
I wouldn’t put this song in any rarified air but its a pretty solid track. Duki puts out quality music time after time. This song is worth the listen without a doubt.
Llamarte – Valentino, De La Ghetto
Valentino is one of those artists who has hung around for a few years. De La Ghetto is sneaky one of the most prolific artists of all time. I’m a fan of this song. This probably won’t rank in the top 10 of De La Ghetto’s career but is probably up there for Valentino.
