Anuel AA took to his Instagram story yesterday to announce that “Los Dioses”, his collab album with Ozuna was ready to drop “at any moment”. This album follows in the tradition of collab albums like Kanye West and Jay-Z’s Watch the Throne and J Balvin and Bad Bunny’s Oasis.
While we wait for this massive release, let’s get pumped up with some of the best songs these two legends have already released together.
Adicto (2019)
My favorite song from the duo. Produced by Tainy, this song is infectious and highlights the individual strengths of Ozuna and Anuel. I hope there are more tracks like this on Los Dioses.
China (2019)
Part cover of Shaggy’s It Wasn’t Me and part reimagining of the song, this track combines some of the biggest stars in all of Laitn music. With 1.6 Billion views, this is arguably one of biggest songs to be released in the last few years. Anuel’s verse adds another layer to this song as he samples Daddy Yankee’s Ella Me Levanto from over a decade before this song was even released. Daddy Yankee, Anuel, Ozuna, J Balvin, and Karol G together on one track is usually a pretty solid recipe for success but this song still shatters expectations.
Bebe (2017)
Released while Anuel was still in prison (something we’ll cover in a future post), this song is one of my favorite early Anuel songs. I’ve always thought this song is perfect to play when you’re alone in your car and driving through the night. Ozuna’s higher voice is a great foil to Anuel’s more nasally and gravely tone. One of the most underappreciated songs of both artist’s discographies.
Cambio (2019)
Cambio means change. About halfway through this song, you can see why that’s such an appropriate title for this track. One of each artist’s longer tracks, this song combines a slow and reflective melody with an up tempo reggaeton track. In many ways, this song is in the same vein as Bad Bunny’s Solo de Mi track from his album x100pre which was released not long before this track. This isn’t my favorite song for either artist but it’s a great example of both artist’s versatility and stylistic abilities.
Brindemos
This track comes off Real Hasta La Muerte, Anuel’s (fantastic) first album after being released from prison in 2018. This song is trap through and through. It’s not hard for one to see why Anuel is considered one of the founders of Latin Trap after listening to this song. This trap sound will likely be one of the hallmark of Los Dioses when its released.
Stay tuned for a full album review when Los Dioses drops.
