Farruko is here with what could be his final album (if his post from months ago is to be believed). La167 is one of the most anticipated albums of the year. It is also the 8th studio album from the Puerto Rican artist.

Before even getting started, this is a massive album. Clocking in at over an hour and a half and 25 tracks, this is a beast. Even with 25 tracks, 23 of them are new (take note Enrique). “Pepas” and “La Toxica”, both certified mega-hits were the two lead singles from this album. There’s a good balance between collaborations and solo tracks here as well. I also have to give a massive amount of credit for the wide range of genres covered here. From EDM to ballads, with reggaeton and other genres filling the space in between.

On this gigantic album, the songs that really stand out to me are “GPS”, “F*LOVE”, “Lambo”, “La Bendicion”, “167”, and “El incomprendido”. “El incomprendido” is a fantastic song. It feels like the sequel to “Pepas” which is destined to be one of the biggest songs of the year. There are so many tracks here it’s hard to give them all their just due. Farruko does a fantastic job of not sacrificing quality for quantity on this massive album. It would be easy to just play this album either straight through or shuffled, with no issue.

On an album of this size, there are certainly some songs that work better than others. “Baja Cali”, “La Perla”, and “Ki” don’t really do it for me. In terms of the massive scale of the album, a few misses are nothing to be ashamed of. They’re also not major misses. They just don’t work as well as some of the others.

Final Review

Farruko gives us a lot to go through in this album. 23 new tracks and 1.5 hours of new music can almost be overwhelming. However, he doesn’t sacrifice quality for quantity. This album has something for almost everybody. There are world-class reggaeton tracks, EDM bangers, trap hits, and danceable salsa songs in one album. This is really something to behold. La167 is easily one of the best albums of the year.
