Anuel and Ozuna’s collab album Los Dioses has finally dropped. While not reaching the heights of J Balvin and Bad Bunny’s Oasis, the gold standard for Latin collab albums, Los Dioses is a powerhouse of an album. The 12 track record has a dash of everything but relies heavily on each artist’s trap and reggaeton roots.

Every song on the album is good and enjoyable. Standout tracks include RD, Nena Buena, Contra el Mundo, and Municiones. The use of John Cena’s theme in the title track helps to add strengthen Latin music’s relationship to the pro wrestling world. It also sets up the rest of the album with the track acting as the intro for two of the greatest talents in the industry. There isn’t any singular song that’s especially weak, there’s quality with every track.

The shortcoming of the album is the lack of one breakout hit. There isn’t a song from this album that I can realistically see lighting up a crowd, especially not one that doesn’t speak Spanish. In other words, there isn’t a crossover hit on the album. Even within Latin music, I don’t believe that there’s a singular song on Los Dioses that will rise above the rest and make a singular impact on the charts or the culture.

Los Dioses needs to be viewed as a whole work and not track by track. As a singular product, Los Dioses represents an important chapter in Latin music. Two of the biggest and most influential artists in Latin music teaming up for an album will always be must-listen to. Anuel and Ozuna gives us quality with each track and it’s incredibly enjoyable. This album doesn’t move the genre forward but instead sits comfortably near it’s peak.

Final score – 8/10.
