Spanish artist Rosalia is here with her 3rd album “Motomami”. This is the follow up to her highly successful 2018 release El Mal Querer which was so legendary, it’s now on M&M bags. Does this live up to the reputation of her 2018 album? Let’s find out.

I know this might be controversial but I can’t say that I get this album. Listening to it, I feel like I’ve been left out on the joke. I truly do not understand where the near universal praise for this album is coming from. The album feels disjointed and almost random.

There aren’t many songs that I like on this album. The few that I find tolerable are “Como Un G”, “Bulerias”, “Delirio de Grandezas”, and even “La Combi Versace”. None of these are tracks that I would say I like and would listen to again but they’re fine. None of them really hit a high enough level to be consider among her greatest hits either.

When it comes to the songs that I don’t care for, well that’s the vast majority of the album. Most of the songs range from unlistenable to forgettable. There are tracks like “Abcdefg” which just aren’t music. It truly feels like Rosalia took a bunch of random concepts and threw them together and thought her perception as a genius would carry the project. Beauty is in the eye of holder, but I see very little here.

Final Thoughts

This isn’t going to be a mainstream opinion but I am just simply not a fan of this album. Rosalia is known for pushing the envelope but Motomami feels like pushing the envelope off the table. I didn’t find a whole lot to enjoy here, to be quite honest.
