This Friday brought us a surprise new album from Maluma (you can read our review here). It also brought us new tracks from artists like Selena Gomez, Anitta, Meek Mill, Jay Wheeler, Alex Rose, and … There are a ton of great new tunes this week so let’s breakdown the best of the best.

Baila Conmigo – Selena Gomez, Rauw Alejandro

This song is certainly an improvement over Gomez’s last Spanish single. This song is much more of an up-tempo reggaeton track. Rauw Alejandro carries most of this song while Selena plays a competent supporting role. I’m a much bigger fan of this song than De Una Vez, Gomez’s last track. This song gives me hope that her new Spanish EP (releasing in March) will be better than I expect it to me. Since it’s Selena Gomez, expect this song to be a hit amongst college girls who want to show how cultured they are.

Loco – Anitta

Anitta delivers another good track this week. While this won’t be remembered as one of her best songs, it’s still a good song. It’s a song you probably won’t skip when you’re in an Anitta mood. It brings the right energy and the level of fun we’ve come to expect from Anitta at this point. Good track.

Conga – Meek Mill, Leslie Grace, Boi-1da

Meek Mill makes another entry into Latin music by sampling/recreating one of my favorite childhood songs. The original Conga by Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine is a certified bop. It’ll get any party moving. This recreation breathes new life into the classic. You can rest assured that this track will be working its way into every single party playlist I put together for the rest of the year. Simply, I love it.

Es Amor (What is Love) – Stephen Oaks, Nicky Jam, Emy Perez

The second song in a row that features a classic 90s tune in the sample. This track samples Hadaway’s What is Love and combines it with a Latin EDM vibe. Nicky Jam’s feature on this track is clearly a sample of an old performance of his (although I don’t know which). This song, along with Conga, will be making frequent appearances on all of my party playlists.

Reggaetonista – KYEN?ES?, DJ Nelson

This song is basically a history lesson from one of the OGs of reggaeton. This song blends 5 all-time classic reggaeton tracks into one clean, smooth, 2.5 minute song. DJ Nelson is one of the most important characters in early reggaeton so leave it to him to know how to summarize so much early reggaeton history in one song. When it comes to the point in the night where classic reggaeton is about to come over the speakers, this song will be my transition.

Me Siento Bien – Deorro, Kura, Alex Rose

So, hand up, I did not realize that this was a Deorro track when I queued it up. That might have changed my expectations. The song begins as a smooth, cool dance track and then (unexpectedly if you didn’t realize it was Deorro) explodes into full blown club EDM. I love it. This is a perfect track to throw in the mix during any party. Get the strobe lights and laser lights going and this song will send the whole building into a frenzy. This song wasn’t featured on New Music Friday Latin on Spotify which is a damn shame. Great song.

It’s a great week for new music. Now let’s have ourselves a WEEKEND.
