New Music Friday seems to be starting earlier and earlier every week with artists releasing their new tracks on Thursday night instead of midnight Friday. Jumping the gun this week are Sebastian Yatra and Los Legendarios, the reggaeton producer duo who released their first album tonight. Among the rest of the releases are songs from Lunay, Myke Towers, Khea, Steve Aoki, Farruko and many more. You can read our review of Los Legendarios 001 here, CNCO’s Deja Vu here.

As always, let’s go over the new tracks you need to know this week.

Adios – Sebastian Yatra

Yeah I know I mentioned him jumping the gun in the intro, but this song is quintessential Yatra. It’s a ballad that will cut you to the core. The music video will pull at your heartstrings. This track is the kind of heartfelt anthem that we’ve come to expect of Yatra. At a minimum, it meets what we expect of Yatra but for many, I would bet this exceeds expectations.

Cuando Sera – Mora, Lunay

I’ve wanted to see more out of Mora since his appearance on Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG . This song finally feels like I got what I wanted. This song has a great beat and fantastic feature from Lunay. String together a few tunes like this one and watch out for Mora. His stock is definitely on the rise.

Ella No Es Tuya (Remix) – Rochy RD, Myke Towers, Nicki Nicole

This song has attitude, man. Myke Towers helps to add to that attitude but the cockiness prevails throughout the track. The arrogance and like I said before, cockiness, here is intoxicating. By the end of this song, you’ll feel like you’re the cock of the walk. Love this song for both parties and chill settings.

Mambo – Steve Aoki ft various artists

Throw the call and response part of Minnie the Moocher into an EDM club track and you have me. Steve Aoki teams up with a ton of artists for this track and it works big time. I want to get into the nearest club and go nuts to this track. The Minnie the Moocher reference is not one most audiences will get but don’t worry Mr. Aoki, I got got it. I see what you’re doing here.

Burros de Salitre – Farruko, Nengo Flow

Farruko is back on his trap flow. This song really earns the explict warning. There’s nothing wrong with that as long as you acknowledge it going in. This songs hits a lot of notes that remind of Farruko’s Trapxficante project (which I was a big fan of). This is a good song to add to any Latin trap playlist. Hopefully Farruko keeps putting out Latin trap tunes like this.

Tu msj </3 – Khea

Shoutout to Khea for delivering a rock track when no one expected it. This is legitimately one of the best Spanish rock tracks I’ve heard in a long time. There’s an alt/punk feel to it that came out of left field but it really works. I’m a big fan of this track and I bet it’ll have a very wide reach.

Flow Lavoe – Nino Augustine

I don’t know much about Nino Augustine. Frankly, I don’t know anything about him. I do know that I really enjoyed this tracked. It’s a slowed down track with an emphasis on the piano/trumpet combination that many of us association with Latin music. A reggaeton/trap bass line accompany the track and make feel the song feel cool and modern.

This week was huge for new music. It’s not hyperbole to say this has been the biggest week of new music of 2021. Let’s hope next week is even better!
